We wrote this because on diffrent thread (Bibiyan in Panj Piayre) Ekta Singh jee wrote a post in which they made a valid point but in the same post following information does not seems to be correct about Vaisakhi 1699 Panj Piyare:

Quote “3 were jatt and the other two were low caste.”

According to many history books following is the brief bio data of Panj Piyare who gave their head on Vaisakhi 1699 and became Guru Saroop.

1) Bhai Diya Singh jee: Previous name DIYA RAM resident of LAHORE (Panjab) son of Bhai SUDHA and Mata DIAALI jee previous caste KHATRI (ਖੱਤਰੀ).
2) Bhai Dharam Singh jee: Previous name DHARAM RAI or DHARAM DASS resident of HASTINAPUR (Delhi) son of Bhai SANT RAM and Mata SABHO previous caste Jatt (ਜੱਟ).
3) Bhai Mohkam Singh jee: Previous name Mohkam Chand resident of DUVARKA (Gujrat) son of Bhai TIRATH CHAND and Mata DEEVA(n) previous caste Shemba (ਛੀਂਬਾਂ).
4) Bhai Himmat Singh jee: Previous name HIMMAT RAI resident of JAGNATH PURI(Odessa) son of Bhai GULAB RAI and Mata DHANO previous caste Cheuar (ਝੀਉਰ).
5) Bhai Sahib Singh jee: Previous name Not Known resident of BIDAR (Karnatka) son of Bhai CHAMANA and Mata SONA previous caste Naee (ਨਾਈ).


Although we should not talk about jaat paat (Castes) any more because khalsa has no jaat paats but if needed to refer back then should use correct information available. Khima for any typo.
