Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

I was wondering if someone could clarify the pronunciation of certain "akhars" that come up in Gurbani.

The first is the ":" in salok sanskriti. I've heard that it has the same sound as an "arda" or an "a" sound.

The second come up many times but i'll give a reference of the first line on ang 1398.

"gur ramdas kaluchraa thu sehaj srowar baas."

The letter is a "rightward hook" that comes in the "paar" (foot) of the "lella" in "kaluchraa." I think it has a "y" sound as in a "yeya."

The third is a "rightward downward diagonal line" that comes in the "paar" of of nenna of the word "jin" on the very next tuk on ang 1398.

"gur jin ko supresan naam har rida niwaas."

I've heard it has an "a" sound.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa
Waheguru ji ki fateh

Khalsa jio,

Just to clarify further on foot sign mentioned in point 3. The common printing of this foot sign is always like mirrored HAHA but as we explained this is actually half Yheia. Another example is in this Pankti from Sri Asa ki Vaar:

mÚ 2 ]eyk ik®snµ srb dyvw dyv dyvw q Awqmw ]
Awqmw bwsudyvis´ jy ko jwxY Byau ] nwnku qw kw dwsu hY soeI inrMjn dyau ]4]

word

bwsudyvis´

has mirrored haha under last Sasa, but actually it is half Yheia. Following is a image from Aasa Ki Vaar pothi we have which shows correct foot sign as half Yheia:

http://khalsaspirit.com/images/Aasakivaar.JPG

Now seeing above image it is very clear that above foot sign can be printed correctly and We hope all printers especially SGPC's Golden Offset Printing Press should pay real attention to this and print correct foot sign as half Yheia i/o mirrored Haha.

Guru Piayario Jios,
That is a very commendable suggestion. Now that the SGPC has sole rights to Print sroops of SGGS..it must take full responsibility to remove all errors and omissions...and also begin publishing more lareevaar sroops.
Gurbani has so many half letters, paireen akhars and half yayas/hahas/raras...ALL are VITAL and must be PRINTED as they are.

2. The other day I read that SGGS is now in the process of acquiring a CONTAINER to send SGGS sroops Overseas...imho we have thus returned FULL CIRCLE. SGGS SROOPS should NOT be sent in Containers. Period. Fancy shelves and curtains etc inside a container DONT CHANGE the Facts..a Container is a Container !!! even if its made of GOLD and encrusted with Kohinoor diamond...its still a iron box !!! a Large Iron Box that is STACKED in airports/ships cargo holds, airplane cargo holds..on airport yards..on lorries..rails...
