khalsa jeeo,
with very few exceptions, it has pretty much been many years since i attempted to write any kind of poetry. i used to do so a bit in my ghor-manmukh days.
i have for some reason lately started to feel like writing gurmat-inspired poetry. i will try to regularly place any such poems in this thread.
we should always remember that only Naam and GurbaaNee inspire us eternally. kachee baaNee such as poems, at best, can only make someone 'feel good' for a few seconds if that.
however, if anyone is even slightly inspired by this kachee baaNee, i feel it may be a worthwhile task.
dhanvaad.

I am impressed Atma Singh jeeo. Please continue writing such poems. In Jail Chithiaan it's written that Singhs used to prepare poems praising Guru Sahibaan during Gurpurabs. In Bhai Sahib's poetry book - Darshan Jhalka - there are several poems for Guru Sahibaan at their Gurpurabs.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa
Waheguru ji ki fateh
Bhai Atma Singh jio,
Impressive talent! We think as long as those words come automatically to mind (ਜਿਹਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਉਤਰ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ ਭਾਵ ਮਿਥ ਕੇ ਨਹੀ ਲਿਖੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਜਾਂ ਇੰਜ ਕਹਿ ਲਉ ਸਹਿਜ ਸੁਭਾਏ ਹੀ ਲਿਖ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ) and fall in boundary of Gurmat then why not those should be written. Keep it up.
Guru Mehar Karay,
Waheguru ji ka khalsa
Waheguru ji ki fateh

…Soon…
Chewing , chomping
Sensual savouring
I eat the murder
At the other’s relishing
Gulping , swallowing
Emotional drowning
I drink the poison
At the other’s serving
Twirling , skittering
Mental flittering
I ruin my honour
At the other’s bidding
Pushing , groaning
Spiritual tearing
I lose my mind
At the other’s commanding
Swirling , bellowing
Breathless choking
I suck the cancer
At the other’s encouraging
….
Oh, cursed one
Listen to My whisper….
Soon…
The mouth that celebrated all that Ras
Will taste the Oultee of Pishaab and puss
The throat that made emotions lie
As molten burns, it will screech and cry
Those feet that led My Izzat astray
Will bleed fully bled as Bandan are placed
That organ that crazed my stable state
Will hide in shame as accounts are made
The breath that sucked My Life away
Will beg to stay where it once did play
Soon…
No eating , No drinking
No dancing , No ****ing
No breathing…
Soon…
Listen to My whisper…
Soon…

Spinning Circle
There is Shaant amidst
Crashing waves
Stillness at the centre
Of spinning circles
Poise in the fluttering
Falling leaves
Grace in Killing
Soor-Beer Shaheeds
---
There is Sehaj amidst
Thundering thoughts
Truth in the middle
Of blinding fog
Seva in the hands
Of murderous thieves
Zor in the begging
Of Gurmukh Ghareebs
---
There is Amrit amidst
Bitter poison
Sants in the hearts
Of hateful sinners
Light in Darkest
Abandoned Souls
Melody in Chaos
Of Manmukh minds
---
Shaant amidst
Soor-Beer Shaheeds
Sehaj amidst
Gurmukh Ghareebs
Amrit amidst
Manmukh minds
Find Stillness
Centre
The Spinning Circle

Khalsa Jeeo,
daas wrote the below in 2004 - just over 2 years before myself and Ghar-Valee were blessed with Amrit.
it was written during a period which many of you will have experienced - when existence seems pointless, and almost goads you...
you know what you want, what you need, the only thing that will ever make you happy...but you also realise that not only will u will ever be worthy but that Kismat will decide otherwise...the beauty being that such feelings can lead to very intense and pure Ardaasaa(n).
i have changed some words - sometimes you get the feeling that you can better sum-up a feeling after you have come through it and are out the other side.
i think i have said too much already - the beauty of poems is that they should live as uniquely received and interpreted things in the minds of those who read them and connect with them. hence, i didn't comment on the last one.
by detailing the original thinking or experience behind them, we can limit a poem's reach and effect.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕਾਖ਼ਾਲਸਾਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕੀਫ਼ਤਹਿ
-------
Without
The Sooraj
Burns spiteful
The Chand
Freezes agony
So constantly
You are so far
From me
That Your Darshan
Is a fantasy…
I cling
To hold onto…
The words that come forth
Replaced by tears
But I hold back
How can the faithless cynic
Deserve such emotion?
I cling
To Hold onto…
A chance
That this Soul
Be coloured by Your love
Oh, drown me deep
In the Crimson of Your Dawn
Away from this sad
Twilight Blue
I cling
To hold onto…
A false hope
I cherished in myself
Full faith in You
I have not placed
Paralysed by this
Present
This Gift…
Promised
Unfulfilled
Love
Such burden
Yet You carry it
And me
As I cling to…
Cling to hold onto You

“The maggots were the disciples of this snake who was their Guroo. He took their wealth whilst promising salvation. It is they who now eat his flesh”
(From a Sakhee involving Siree Guroo Hargobind Sahib Jee)
Carcasses
The whores
Their cares
Cast away
Clothes
Fall
Care
Free
As they blindly embrace
Falsehood
An empty promise
That pleads
Once
Crowned with Amrit
Now
It drips from Sees
Onto thirsty feet
And they scream:
“Thank you , thank you!
You give us life!
Through your flesh
We live!
Through your wealth
We thrive!”
Those stone-cold feet you cling to
How will they ferry you across?
Fools!
They rot as you touch them
These feet devour
All that love them
These feet belong
To the Idols of Kaljug
The holy men
Grewals and Gurmeets
Speaking so sweet
Oh, how they please you!
These feet belong
To the Carcasses of Kaljug
The hollow men
Grewals and Gurmeets
Speaking so sweet
Oh, how they consume you!
And they scream:
“Thank you , thank you!
You give us life!
Through your faith
We live
Through your wealth
We prosper!”
The Sikhs their Sikhee
Cast away
Amrit
Spills
Care
Free
Once
Crowned with Naam
Now
Filled with poison
It drips from Sees
Onto rotten feet
One day
The maggots
Will feed

Flowers & Rice
A sheet was laid
The Guru lay beneath
Then flowers
Fragrant, sweet
Were placed
They covered Him equally
Too much to behold!
A sense of possession,
It overcame them:
“He belongs to us,
He’s our Pir, he’s our Guru
Such a commodity as this,
He’s too precious to be shared!”
But the Guru had smiled
Such
a smile
Impossible to behold
“Let the morning awake,
Freshest flowers that remain,
It is those of you I belong to,
It is for them that I came”
***
A sheet was laid
And placed upon it
Rice fragrant
Beautiful, sweet
To be shared equally
The dogs of greed, they snarled
It was too tempting to behold!
They Ripped
Teared
Soiled
and Shredded
Not a grain of rice was taken
The Guru smiled
Such
a smile
Very few were able to behold
“A day will dawn
When my Khalsa
Will awake
To whom I belong,
Within them
My Raaj remains”
***
A sheet is laid
And placed upon it
Flowers and Rice
Fragrant, Beautiful, Sweet
He waits to be shared
Equally
* In memory of Bhai Rama Singh (Southall), who loved so many Sikhs equally, no matter what their beliefs; and in return was and is still loved by so many Sikhs, no matter what their beliefs.

Me and You
You: Take it, you don't know, tomorrow may not come.
Me: Wait, how about if you mess up? There is no turning back you know.
You: Mess up? He will be with you all the way, holding your hand, whats to fear then?
Me: How about if you cant do it? I'm not doubting God, but I have my doubts about you!
You: I think you are under estimating its power, remember you are giving your head, make a request so you never trip up.
Me: What makes you think you are worthy of taking it in the first place? Do you follow the conduct? You cant even get up in the morning! Oh and naam, well yeah it comes out of your mouth, but don't make me say where your mind is.
You: But there are others who have taken it and are you not worthy or as good as them?
Me: Oh so now your comparing yourself with others, not to mention judging others! What a great disciple you would make! Ha!
You: Remember, sometimes you have to give something, to receive something.
Me: Will you be picking and choosing, which group to take it from?
You: Your not taking anything from any group, you are trading something small for immortality and you are receiving it from your Master. O foolish mind you will always be in doubt, stop questioning and jump in with full faith, with fear and love in your heart, this is the time, this is your best opportunity, don't miss out........

True Love
What is that Love?
That Love that stops it from being a chore?
My Love is bound by my 5 senses, how can I realise true Love?
Love should be unconditional, it should have no bounds, what makes thy Love different?
Why does my Love stop and start, many a time?
How do I invoke the Love within my heart for you?
Why follow something without Love?
I believe it, I know its true, I know its the right way, I have full faith in it. Then why cant I follow it? Why can I not truly Love it?
True Love is a longing, its the true desire, its a flame that should be consuming your body. You should not be able to eat, sleep, work because of the pain that true Love has brought you. That pain of seperation.
My Love should be like that of a child; eager, innocent, unconditional, faithful and determined. I ask again where is my Love?
Why am I wondering from place to place, when I know these places cant satisfy my Love and will not fill that hole.
O True Master make me realise your Love.

Yo-Yo
I am the yo-yo,
You are the hand,
Maya is the string.
Everything is in your control.
Sometimes the string is so long between the yo-yo and the hand, the yo-yo begins to roll along the dirt, only by your command can the distance be cut and the yo-yo can come back in your hand.
The hand is always over the yo-yo, this you must not forget.

Take Me
take me when I think of you,
take me whilst I sing your praises,
take me when I breathe your name,
take me when I realise you,
take me when I have done your work,
take me when I love you,
take me when I am in bliss,
take me when I have controlled The 5,
take me when I am in the 5th state,
take me from the tenth gate,
take me when I see you,
take me whilst I am at your feet,
take me when I've tasted your sweet,
take me when I hear your sound,
take me when I smell your fragrance,
take me when I become your servant,
take me when I am with you.......
until then keep me breathing......
