Getting Stronger

I thought it would be beneficial to post the below thread concerning weight training and getting stronger. People have often argued how we can still gain bulk with milk, almonds, soya, nuts etc in the same way as people who eat traditional high protein foods like tuna and chicken. However I think we should read the views of real professional weight lifters who really take their training seriously.

Yes, the body-builders insist that eating meat is a necessity. Who wants to be a body-builder? And why?

I'd rather eat my greens "like a cow" and have the happiness of my Guru rather than being "ripped" and being a manmukh. And it's a guarantee that the person with Guru Sahib's kirpaa is the one who will be victorious in any fight.

Personally I find the bodies of body-builders to be disgusting and completely unnatural. Why look like that except for feeding one's own haumai? It doesn't make any sense. Be healthy, but looking like that is not natural or normal.

I agree that Guru's kirpa is the best (although I don't think just by not eating meat you'll gain it). The reasion for the post was to show what people who really train from their experience what you need to eat. Some people argue that you don't need meat, but according to the thread despite the Vegiterian drinking a litre of milk a day, cup full of chick peas (cholai), almonds, greens etc it does not compensate for the amino acids in the natural food for humans - meat.

Really....what about Fauja Singh? That guy is 90+ and has more energy now than most of us will have in a lifetime. What about Baba Deep Singh? Guru Hargobind Sahib?

I beleive it's bani that makes us stronger. Although one must be at a more advanced stage. It increases our shakti. Look at the trials and tribulations of numerous singhs in our history.

Popeye used to grow his muscles big just by eating a can of spinach. Try and get the bodybuilders to explain that.

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki fateh.

Just look at our History..... the MOGHUL SOLDIERS who attacked Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee and Guru Gobind Singh Ji and in subsequent wars were all DUMBEY EATING "musclemen" ( a DUMBAH is a Full sized male goat/ram).....and see how our SIKHS/SINGHS sent them packing.. They LOST every battle and war.....

The Sikhs beat the **** out of the giant Pathans, the never defeated afghans...and what not.... Till today the pathan and afghan mothers scare their children to sleep or not be naughty by saying "hario ayaeh" ( ref to S. Hari Singh Nalwa )

Bhai Bachittar Singh Ji was a tiny ( under five foot) warrior who put the Mast Hathi ( drunk and armed elephant sent to crash the gates of Anandpur sahib) to flight...

The modern Day Pakistanis ( Cow and Buffalo eaters ) are every bit as PUNJABI as ourselves.... how the SIKH PUNJABIS beat the **** out of them in every war...are BETTER FARMERS..better in every way...

What more proof do you need.....We have the Power of GURBANI.

Dass jarnail singh.

have you heard of these athletes?
Carl Lewis - olympian of the century, olympic medalist in track
Ruth Heidrich - ironman triathlete, age group record holder
Desmond Howard - Heisman trophy winner (american football)
Stan Price - former world-record holder in bench press
Bill Manetti - powerlifting champion
Bill Pearl - four-time Mr. Universe
Al Qerter, discus thrower and winner of 4 olympic gold medals
Keith Holmes - WBC World Middleweight Champion

ALL OF THEM ARE VEGETARIANS
this is interesting:
The strongest animals on Earth are also vegetarians: Elephants, oxen, horses, mules, camels, water buffalo, etc. The Silverback Gorilla is 3-times the size of a man and is 30-times stronger! A Silverback Gorilla is so strong it could throw a 200-pound man across the street like a Frizbee! What does a gorilla eat? Raw fruit and vegetables.

Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee could erase the printing on a coin just by pressing their fingers together.

There is a sakhi of a naam abhiyasi singh who came across a wild lion that was causing trouble for the people of a village. The singh did a panthra and got the lion into a headlock. While carrying the lion away, he unknowingly killed it with the power of his arms just by holding it in a headlock.

The power is in gurbani, not in eating flesh.

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji ke Fateh

Read the autobigraphy of Hari Singh Nalwa, a staunch sikh. I read it recently adn there are references in their from English people. It says while out on a hunting expedition a lion suddenly attacked Hari Singh Nalwa, it was such a sudden attack the Hari Singh didn't have the time to draw his sword , so grabbed the jaws of the lion at both end. After a long struggle Hari Singh killed the lion ripping apart the jaw.The book says that he was given the title of Nalwa from this event onwards. Also Nalwa means brave , storng, carer of the poor. This was witnessed by a german and a few other English people mentioned in the book, I can't remeber their names at present. But it goes to show the sheer power Hari Singh Ji had, an average lions ways about 25-30 stone!!!!!

ns ji,

There is a camera photograph of Hari singh Nalwa and Maharaja Ranjeet Singh sitting along with some generals of french army in the baba baghel singh museum Gurudwara Bangala sahib in delhi.

This photograph was acquired by the museum probably 5-6 years back as I never happened to see it there before that.

Thats one of the rarest of rare photos we have and I can tell you for sure that Nalwa's physicue had an oversized fat personality.

Even Maharaja Ranjit singh is a lot different from his caricatures seen in the sikh museum so far.

Beleive me(until you would have a chance to look at that photograph) they look like any other normal human beings we see today.

these sikh leaders/parcharaks havent facilitated that photograph to be published so far - as the bread and butter of many a raagis and parcharaks is to spread all kind of myths in our community.

No wonder then, that gullible people like you and many others including me (that was about 5-6 years back till I saw that photograph for the first time ) generally tend to beleive in the stories like the one you mentioned.

"Hari Singh Ji had, an average lions ways about 25-30 stone!!!!!"

May god give some sense to these Akali leaders of the sikh panth that they publish the photograph worldwide and help dispell half-truths & myths of Heriocism often attributed to our heros of the past.

kulmohan,

that picture has been proven to be a fake. I know the one that you are referring to. It's actually of some Afghans. No pictures of those Singhs exist.

It seems like you are in doubt of guru jis shakti. In "modern" times a lot of people begin doubting whether things like that really happened, but for those poeple who have faith in guru jis awesome shakti know that it can really haapen

Yep the photo is probably a fake, but the account written about Hari Singh attacked by the lion, in his biography isn't ,, that is what i was quoting. Over the years I 've gone past being gullable and do proper research by spending time on it, and pray Guru Ji keeps me that way.

Naam, bani and regular calistheinic execises (no weights-just your own body) will make you strong.
Not long ago, I was talking to a gursikh who used to know Shaheed bhai Fauja singh. He told me that B. Fauja Singh was incredibly strong.
He would do a thousand Dands everyday!
I have found that calistheinic exercises such as Dands, squats, press-ups etc. are very good for giving you overall stength and they also strengthen your joints and ligaments.
We are a lazy society now, unlike our forefathers who were constantly active due to a constant danger lurking around the corner.
