Sikh Students Federation (Mehta) warns
Haryana Sikhs in danger

An excerpt from:
Tribune India
Thursday, 15th July 2004

Ludhiana - Taking a serious view of the attack on a Punjab Roadways bus in Haryana and the threat of various outfits to target Sikhs in the neighbouring state, the Sikh Students Federation (Mehta) has warned the mischief-mongers to desist from such acts or be prepared for similar measures in Punjab.

Coming down heavily on the BJP, Mr Gurcharan Singh Grewal, president of the outfit, said the BJP was playing to the gallery and with an eye to increase its vote bank. The gameplan of the party was dangerous and it would further incite the inflamed sentiments of the people on the emotive issue.

The people of Punjab were united and were ready for any sacrifice to safeguard their rights, he added.

He said it was a matter of record that certain forces had always worked against the welfare of the Punjabis, especially Sikhs. The discrimination had started from the time of Partition and continues till date. The people had always been forced to fight for their rights as was evident on the Punjabi Suba movement and the injustices which led to terrorism. Now a similar atmosphere was being created which would not only sour relations between the people of the neighbouring states but could also result in bloodshed, he pointed out.

Mr Grewal said the BJP was whipping up frenzy on the waters issue so that it would reap rich dividends in the forthcoming Assembly elections in Haryana.

This was not Gujarat and the sooner the BJP realise it the better it was for all concerned.

“It is hard to understand why everyone is crying hoarse over the issue which is an attempt to protect the rights of the state and as per internationally accepted laws. Any other state would have done the same in similar circumstances, so where’s the conflict,” he questioned.

He informed that a meeting of the working committee of the federation would be held shortly to chalk out a further course of action.

He also appealed to all the people to remain calm but be ready to take up the cudgels for a just cause. The people should be ready to make sacrifices for settling a contentious issue once and for all, he added.

PRTC stops plying buses on 30 Haryana routes

Patiala - The Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) has stopped plying its buses on 30 routes in Haryana following apprehensions that its buses may be targeted following Punjab’s decision to scrap water agreements with its neighbouring states.

A PRTC bus was stopped by a mob near Hisar two days ago. It doused the bus with petrol after asking the passengers to come out. However, the bus was saved from being set afire.

Corporation Chairman Ved Prakash Gupta said the corporation had decided to stop buses from going into rural areas in Haryana. He said accordingly all General Managers had been asked to terminate the routes of Haryana-bound buses in Punjab territory itself. These buses were mainly plying on the routes of Jind, Rohtak, Nirwana and Sirsa areas. However, PRTC buses will continue to ply on the Delhi route.

Mr Gupta said the Sangrur and Budhlada depots had been adversely affected by the move as a large number of buses went to various places in Haryana from these depots. He said the corporation was also losing money due to this move. He said the corporation would wait for a few days before restarting its service on various Haryana-bound routes.

This is a very worrisome situation for the Sikhs in India. Let us all do ardaas that the 1984-like massacre of the Sikhs is not repeated in India. The Haryana Jaat hooligans are once again trying to humiliate the Sikhs. Let us hope that the Water conflict in Punjab does not end up a religious conflict between the Sikhs and the Hindus.

Daas,

Guru Piayri Sadh Sangat Jiiiii

These hate mongers of haryana should be taught good lesson by Sikhs & Punjabis.

If you want to know more about their views and what they think of us then please proceed to their own "Jat" website. They were on high ratio in robbing and raping Sikh families during 1984 mobs attacks in Delhi.

It is strange to read these people demanding Punjab's water on the grounds that they once were part of the Punjab State. I say when they start speaking PUNJABI, they will aslo get the water (which means never). I know their Haryanvi mentality...they want the Punjabi goods, but will not adopt Punjabi identity.
