Sant Samaj led Panthi Morcha loses elections

This is a very significant development in the Sikh politics and is going to have far-fetching effects in the religious development of the Sikhs.

Shiromini Akal Dal led by Parkash Singh Badal has sweeped pretty much all SGPC seats in Punjab. This means that everything will go on as normal.

Panthic Morcha led by Sant-Samaj chief Sarbjot Singh Bedi suffered a crushing defeat in the hands of Badal. I wonder what happened to the ridhi-sidhi of all the sants of Punjab. It seems like Badal is the greatest sant of Punjab (it is supposed to be a joke. Don't pound me for this).

One good thing that has resulted from these results is that the destructive Sant Samaj has been kept out of Gurdwaras in Punjab for another 5 years. Who knows what they would have done if they had won.

Kulbir Singh

SAD sweeps SGPC election

Chandigarh, July 11
A few reverses in Sangrur and Ropar notwithstanding, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was heading for a landslide win in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections.

Some of the winners of SGPC poll

Jagdev Singh Talwandi
Harsurinder Singh Gill
Kewal Singh Badal
Raghbir Singh Saharanmajra
Satpal Singh Talwandi
Jaswinder Singh
Hardeep Singh
Bibi Kiranjot Kaur
Kirpal Singh
Onkar Singh

According to trends available from various parts of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, Shiromani Akali Dal candidates were heading for comfortable wins in most of the constituencies. Elections to three constituencies in Amritsar and Gurdaspur were countermanded after the Punjab Government refused to accept the recommendation of the Chief Commissioner, Gurdwara Elections, for transferring Deputy Commissioners of the two districts, besides shifting three returning officers.

The SAD suffered major reverses in Sangrur and Ropar, where they lost six seats each. In Ropar district, the SAD could win only Anandpur Sahib and lost two seats each in Ropar, besides losing in Morinda and Mohali.

One PCS officer, who contested as an Independent and was later supported by the Shiromani Akali Dal, lost by more than 5000 votes.

According to Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, spokesman of the SAD, the Dal won 127 out of 146 seats in Punjab for which polling was held today. Since six of its candidates were declared elected unopposed, its tally in Punjab went up to 133. Panthic Morcha candidates and Independents won 19 seats so far. Two Panthic Morcha candidates had been declared elected unopposed. In Chandigarh, the lone seat was won by Mr Gurpartap Singh Riar, an Independent, who had opposed the official candidate of the SAD, Mr Amarinder Singh.

In Mohali, the Panthic Morcha candidate, Mr Hardeep Singh, was also a comfortable winner.

In Hoshiarpur, Mr Harbans Singh Manjpur of the SAD was defeated. The Dal lost one seat each in Gurdaspur (Dera Baba Nanak ) and Amritsar (Patti).

In Sangrur, the SAD lost both city seats, besides tasting defeat in Malerkotla, Sunam, Dhuri and Dirbha. Initial results from Haryana indicated that the SAD was leading in two seats in Hisar and one in Ambala.

Tribune Reporters add:
AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Akali Dal won at least 21 SGPC seats out of 25 while the result of the remaining seats was awaited. This included all four seats of Amritsar City, which witnessed a keen contest. Mr Sukhwinder Singh Jhabal, SAD candidate, had been declared unopposed while the election at Tarn Taran was countermanded. Those declared elected from Amritsar City are Bibi Kiranjit Kaur, Mr Jaswinder Singh Advocate, Mr Rajinder Singh Mehta and Mr Onkar Singh.

Among the SAD candidates elected from Amritsar district are Mr Gurwinder Pal Singh and Mr Baljit Singh from Baba Bakala, Mr Hardial Singh (Bhikhiwind), Bibi Manjit Kaur (Tarn Taran), Mr Baldev Singh (Chaaugawan), Mr Gopal Singh Janian (Jandiala) and Mr Santokh Singh (Guru ka Bagh).

BATHINDA: SAD candidates Dr Balbir Singh Deol and Jagroop Singh won from Bhagta Bhai Ka and Rampura Phul, respectively, whereas its candidates Sukhdev Singh Bahia and Davinder Kaur were victorious from Bathinda (General) and Bathinda (women reserved) seats, respectively. SAD candidates Balwant Singh Beerbehman, Mohan Singh Bangi and Chatan Singh Sabao won the SGPC poll from Baluana, Talwandi Sabo (General) and Talwandi Sabo (SC reserved) seats, respectively.

Panthic Morcha candidate Gurtej Singh Jodhpur Pakhar was leading his SAD rival by over 2,200 votes at Mor Mandi when reports last came in. Counting for 13 polling stations was yet to be completed for this seat.

JALANDHAR: It was a clean sweep for the SAD in Shiromani SGPC elections as its candidates won all nine constituencies. While its candidate from Adampur had won unopposed prior to the elections, other eight seats were also won by its party members. Mr Kulwant Singh Manan won from Jalandhar (Urban) constituency and Ms Gurvinder Kaur won the seat reserved for women. The Kartarpur seat went to Mr Sukhbir Singh and the Shahkot seat went to Mr Shinghar Singh.

In Phillaur, Mr Harjinder Lallian won while Ms Nirmal Kaur won the seat reserved for women.

In Kapurthala, SAD won all seats. Bibi Jagir Kaur, former SGPC chief, won from Bhulath. Mr Jarnail Singh won from Phagwara. Kapurthala (Urban) seat was won by Mr Santokh Singh Bhadda.

LUDHIANA: The Shiromani Akali Dal won 17 of the 19 SGPC seats from Ludhiana district. The winners include former SGPC President Jagdev Singh Talwandi from Raikote.

The only upset was the defeat of the Senior Vice-President of the party and sitting SGPC member Amarjit Singh Bhatia from Ludhiana (North). Mr Bhatia was defeated by Mr Balwinder Singh Bains of the Panthic Morcha in a close contest. Mr Bains is a close confidante of Mr Simranjit Singh Mann. The Panthic Morcha candidate, Ms Sukhjinder Kaur Sukhi, had won from Ludhiana (South) reserved for women unopposed.

Prominent winners from Ludhiana district include SGPC vice-president Kewal Badal from Sidhwan Bet, Mr Avtar Singh Makkar from Ludhiana (West) and Mr Kanwal Inder Singh Thekedar from Ludhiana (North). Mr Talwandi defeated Mr Rajwinder Singh, Mr Kewal Badal defeated Mr Milkiat Singh, Mr Makkar defeated Mr Parvinder Singh and Mr Thekedar, son of senior Akali leader Mr Surjan Singh Thekedar, defeated Mr Jarnail Singh. All four losers were from the Panthic Morcha.

MANSA: The Panthic Morcha won two out of the six seats in Mansa district. Panthic Morcha candidates Harcharan Singh Burjhari and Karnail Singh Ghorrewala won from Joga (General) and Joga (SC reserved), respectively.

The other four seats were won by SAD candidates. They are Mr Manjeet Singh Bhappiana, Mr Sukhdev Singh Dayalpura, Mr Surjit Singh Raipur and Bibi Kashmir Kaur from Mansa, Budladha, Sardulgarh (General) and Sardulgarh (Women) respectively.

MUKTSAR: The SAD repeated its performance in party president Parkash Singh Badal’s home district Muktsar by winning all six seats. All sitting SGPC members of the SAD were re-elected. While three seats had been won by the SAD unopposed, its candidates on the other three seats were also victorious.

The SAD candidate from Malout, Mr Dayal Singh Kolianwali, defeated Panthic Morcha candidate Jaswant Singh Ramnagar by over 2,000 votes, while the SAD candidate from Gidderbaha, Mr Gurpal Singh Gora, defeated Panthic Morcha candidate Mahan Singh Karaiwala by over 25,000 votes. Mr Sarup Singh Sibia won from Muktsar (General) seat by defeating Panthic Morcha candidate Gurdev Singh Lubanowali by over 3,000 votes.

I am sure that if they are sants they would be living in bhana of Guru Granth Sahib and not misuse ridhi-sidhi.
Who can do worse deeds than badal when he had no remorse in having saroops of Guru Granth Sahib burnt with fire.

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki fateh.

It is INDEED VERY good news that SANT SAMAJ has been kept OUT of GURDWARAS. These sants are even more dangerous than the badal dallies as they are all under RSS influence to bring back brahminism into our Gurdwaras which the Kaum shed so much blood to chase out in the 1920's.

All that Ridhi Sidhi stuff is comicbooks stuff of spiderman/batman/superman thing.....GURU NANAK mentions in Babar vani that these same types had promised the LOdhi Sultans that their ridhi sidhi will BLIND the MOGHULS, BLOCK their CANNON MOUTHS etc etc.....GURU NANAK SAW the SLAUGHTER at Sultanpur and said..Na koi mughal hoayah andha....NOT a SINGLE MOGHUL was BLINDED NOR was a Single cannon Blocked....

I remeber during the General elections in PUNJAB a few years back, Video tapes were circulated in MALAYSIA by these Sant samaj Followers showing HUGE CROWDS at their SANT RALLIES....and claims were made that BADAL would be swept out to sea ( like the Arabs make claims about israelis being swept out to sea) off KARACHI and not a single heair of badal would be found anywhere.....NOT a SINGLE SANT SAMAJ CANDIDATE WON...MOST in FACT LOST THEIR DEPOSITS AS WELL..... that time too the ridhi sidhi failed miserably. A very famous SANT SAMAJI Brahmgiani challenged GS Tohra for the SGPC PRESIDENCY, LOST BADLY and came to MALAYSIA and then went on to USA........

The only thing "bad" about the Massive badal win is that there is indeed a lot wrong with the SGPC.....and all that will now be pushed under the carpet for another five years....this is BAD NEWS for the Panth as well.

WJKKWJKF

Sant samaj may be wrong in its ideology at some points; but the community is also not safe with the present SGPC mahants. They have already done the damage.

It is shameful, the way, the polling was conducted at some, may be many of the polling booths. Any body can poll from any booth. You can poll as many times, at the same booth. Bihari Bhaias were taken to the booths for polling. That was, sort of a Langar. "Want to vote, come here, we have a vote for you."

Actually, That was a victory of "Proficiency in making arrangements to bring men and women of any religion and region to the booth and ask them vote for you". This is what I observed, while seeing a Gursikh candidate losing in Amritsar city.

Nothing of the sort, I have seen in MLA or MP elections.

Referencing another topic: RAPE IN SIKHI...

Both Bedi and Bhai Ranjit Singh know about the sant you is being accused of rape and sexual assault(they have been informed). The only sad part about the Sant Samaj, is that they wanted the girls to present signed documents stating what happened to them before the 9th July, so that it could be used against badal, ( they sisters did not, they didn't want it to be watered down, and used as an election tool...) because everyone knows that this sant who is being accused of rape is very close to badal, even though he is a member of sant samaj...

The proof will be in the pudding, to see what they all do, now that the elections are over?

Jarnail Singh, i agree with you, No riddi-siddi exists with these 'wanneby's'
None of them, they are all blinded by 'hunkar' (ego)

PS. Even the Jathedar of Akal Takht knows, he was invited to New Jersey on the 2nd July for a seminar about this sant, by the US Singhs......

Seriously ,let see what they all do....?

But after all, not much efforts are needed to force the Jathedars, in position, to hold the elections as per the rules. The election code was announced by Vedanti Ji himself, why not get it followed ---
by following Vedanti Ji- day in day out ?

Can not the sikhs avail rules of the land ?

What prohibits the community to force the defaulter SGPC members to depoist dues of the SGPC medical College ?

Cannot, an agency or a person conduct survey of elected members, for their daily Nitnem and depoist the results with the Gurdwara Commission and Takhat Jathedar? At least, let the community know, if the elected jathedars know Jap Ji or Rehras Sahib by heart or not at all.

Why talk Khalistan, if we are unable to handle SGPC ?

The moment we are able to manage SGPC like GENTLE MEN, the problems start rushing.

destructive Sant Samaj??

if Sant Samaj-led Panthic Morcha is 'evil', so why is Bhai Ranjit Singh supporting it? He is said to be a true Panthic leader, isn't that true?

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki fateh.

Deep Singh Ji: ONLY Bhai Ranjit Singh Ji can answer your question.

IMHO the reason is that earlier he was with GS TOHRA and BADAL.....until circumstances FORCED TOHRA to DROP Bhai Ji and he was removed from Akal takhat as well....then Bhai Ranjit singh Ji joined hands with CHANDOK and COMPANY in DELHI AGAINST TOHRA/BADAL ....and we all know what CHANDOK did and what type of person he is ???

IMHO Bhai Ranjit Singh has NO CHOICE - its either A (badal) or B (sant samaj)...and BOTH are NOT PANTHIC but self centred !!!! NO THIRD CHOICE.

IMHO whole of INDIA itself faces this same dilemma....its either A (Congress+ Communists+ Muslim League etc ) OR B ( BJP + RSS + Badal etc etc)..... and BOTH are the SAME COIN but different SIDE....Again NO THIRD CHOICE !!!!

SO every FIVE YEARS the Indian and Punjab Voters just close their eyes and pick either one of the two devils to ruin their lives.....

Bhai Ranjit Singh is even with Chandook?

I thought Sarna, leader of SAD (Delhi) had disowned Chandok from the party, and Bhai Ranjit Singh was only with those people...like the mainstream party in delhi and not chandok.

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki fateh.

Deep Singh Ji:

Chandook is just a "small branch" of the SAD Delhi "TREE"..... the branch has been made a scapegoat..... and imho only until the SGPC elections are over...now see what happens ??? The whole thing is abig drama to fool the people.... Bhai sahib jee is a supporter of the "TREE" ?? get it ?? Cjandok or no chandok makes no difference...they are all birds of the same feather.

It used to be said that you can fool some of the people some of the time, most of the people most of the time BUT you CANNOT fool ALL the people ALL the time....BUT in INDIA/PUNJAB it seems YOU CAN FOOL ALL the people ALL the TIME....the people are being fooled since 1947....
