could some gursikh please help daas

in sukhmani sahib the word bhagat appears many times, for example:

krih Bgiq Awqm kY cwie ]

karehi bhagath aatham kai chaae ||

Performing devotional worship with heart-felt love,

and

hir kI Bgiq krhu mnu lwie ]

har kee bhagath karahu man laae ||

Worship the Lord with whole-hearted devotion.

...............

the question is do we pronounce the sihaaris to make it bhagati or are these sihaaris there for viyakaran purposes only and therefore should we pronounce it bhagat? if so how does this sihaari effect the meaning of each of the pankitis.

...............

also on a side note:

iDAwie iDAwie Bgqh suKu pwieAw ]

dhhiaae dhhiaae bhagatheh sukh paaeiaa ||

By constant meditation, His devotee finds peace.

do we pronounce

Bgqh

as bhagathEh or bhagathAh?

bhul chuk maaf
waheguroo

The sihaari of 'bhagat' here is silent as far as I know. The laghu-maatras (sihaari and aunkad) of nouns, pronouns and adjectives are normally not pronounced where as of verbs are pronounced. Please refer to the book by Dhanna Singh on Gurbani Uchaaran. Also refer to the Sikh Missionary book on Gurbani uchaaran for more details.

---------
do we pronounce
Bgqh

as bhagathEh or bhagathAh?
-----------

I personally am more inclined to pronounce the latter one as it makes the meaning more clear and it is close to the way we would say this word in contemporary conversation but it's not a big deal if one pronounces it as the former above.
