"Merry Christmas" Aakhey har koi
Sahibzaadiyan di shaheede na kisey yaad kitee
Dow hanjhu ker lao unhan noo vee yaad karke
zindgi jinhan ne tuhadi sikhi layi kurbaan kitee

Just sharing my deep down feelings today with all of you. I do respect all other religions but AAPNA ISHT KADEY NAHI BHULNAA CHAAHIDAA
And I don't understand why people use the lame excuse " Jey Es country vich rehna pher unha varga hona painaa"

Was this a condition when we arrived in western countries especially"
Even back in India the influence is so much that people just follow each other as a rat race whether Hindus Sikhs or any others. Why? No one knows.

My benti is that atleast we can preach our ownself.

Don't mean to hurt anyone else's feelings so please don't take the wrong side.
Meharbaani ji

This christmas has just become a BHEDDCHAAAL in India. BAKRRIIS move in bheds not lions. and Lions are less in number no doubt about it.
Even people who dont know english much will make an artifical face and say merry christmas and a happy new year. Aggggggg la do new year nu.
People are just gulam in their minds and sikhs have left their niyaarapan and have submitted to gulami as well.
People here delibrately cram lyrics of english songs and sing them loud in public, speak angrejji in that fake artifical accent, cram difficult words from dictionary and delibrately force them into their speech. Wear western clothes, have western hairstyles. Its better to die than to live with such gulam mentality.

DHAN DHAN BABA AJIT SINGH JEEEE
DHAN DHAN BABA JUJHAR SINGH JEEEE
DHAN DHAN BABA JORAWAR SINGH JEEE
DHAN DHAN BABA FATEH SINGH JEEEE.
DHAN DHAN SATGURU SRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JEE MAHARAJ
RAJ KAREGA KHALSA
DEG TEG FATEH
PANTH KE JEET

Maharaj Ji tuhanu hor vee chardi kala vicn rakhan Harinder Singh ji. My own family memebers are so much into it that they think me to be dumb. They question and laugh on me by saying that if i didn't have to follow the westernised society why did i leave india to be here in uk? although it doesn't bother me at all but it hurts inside you when even the elders of the family join in.

I can only pray that waheguru sacha paatshash ji give them chungi budhi.

Thanks for your chardi kala reply.

I personally think celebrating Christmas is ok as long as it is not the commercialised version of presents, turkey and christmas trees... this year I went to Church for the midnight mas and it was very peaceful...

I also attended the Gurudwara for the Sahibzaday commemoration Diwans and encouraged others to do so..

I think it is important to do both.. at the end of the day Jey Es country vich rehna pher unha varga hona painaa BUT at the same time not lose our own RICH heritage.

Jesus was the one who met Akal. So all Sikhs should celebrate Xmas.

Well, if ur country of present stay offers something good, something that can make u a better human, nuthing wrong in taking that. But this statement that jis country ch rehnna usde varrga honna painna, thats just a gulaam soch.

Oh yes, i know what you mean "YES" but what if the elders of the family think its important to have a x-mas tree, presents, have proper x-mas dinner and be a part of it in the full swing?

I work among English people and i don't go out with them to late night parties to have un-bibek food, or drink or give out cards(i'm just against any sort of cards though eg b'day etc as well) but I do take samosas and wish them Merry Christmas in my own way. They've got no objection as they are more sensible than us to understand we are a different KAUM and from time to time I do explain in brief who we are.

But its our own families who don't let you anywhere etc.
Thats why I said in my original message that We need to preach ourselves and our families first.

You can't sail in two boats so we stick to what we are and respect others at the same time. I believe that Jesus was a Godly soul and I do respect Jesus fully but it doesn't tech me to go to church and then go to gurdwara. For me
BAANI GURU GURU HAI BAANI and I bow my head to only GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI

Pyare Staffsv: "but what if the elders of the family think its important to have a x-mas tree, presents, have proper x-mas dinner and be a part of it in the full swing?"

Your dilemma is one that a lot of us can relate to.. so i suppose you have a few options:

1. Just go along with it quietly.

2. Have the dinner etc with them but try and do a deal with them.. where you celebrate Christmas and you can teach them about the Pyare Sahibzade and why that was so important...

3. What your family is doing is the celebration of the commercialised Christmas, where everything is a Disney movie, this is not the case... Christmas IS about family and sharing etc but how many of us would go to Church and share a prayer with other God-fearing and loving people?? and celebrate the REAL Christmas....

These days people claiming themselves to be sikhs are more interested in celebrating holi, divali, christmas, new year etc than to celebrate Gurpurabs or other important events in sikh history. I personally have had enough of this. Though i care for and respect my family and friends but I have made things pretty clear to them that I wont be a part of these celebrations. I only celebrate Gurpurabs or events related to Satguru jee or great sikh souls, bass. Initially some of my family members got a bit sad at this but slowly they realized their mistake and now even they celebrate Gurpurabs with full utshaah.

Harinder Singh ji, you say that your family get sad about your decisions just to celebrate gurpuruba only....

Would you believe that one of our family member's son cried not to take him for hair cut and they continued. this year this child (only 8 yeras old) went onto the stage after attending Sikhi Camp and complainned about what he feels like and wants to keep his hair. There was a sadness on the face of the mother I saw with teeth under lips as if .....

Father replied , " you won't be able to play football any more...you pugg will go rolling tumbled down in dust..."
and much wrong words

I went to this child and encouraged that he can wear Patka when he does sports. Keeping hair doesn't mean he has to give up doing things like sports. I told him that Khalsa is born warrior. Seeps got their hair sheared and not Lions. Lions wouldn't be taken as lions if their head will be shaved off.... etc etc but i don't know what the family would decide.

The idea of sharing the story is that :
We as parents think that SIKHI or keeping KESH is a big problem
We don'et want our children or ourself to adopt sikhi

God knows why though

Thanks for your responses so far.
Dhawaad ji

its all about money. Parents want their child to have a good job, have status, standard, torr. And parents feel that kesh, amrit will make it tough.sab paise da khel hai bhaiiii.
Baba bikh dekhiyaa sansaar.

Well said. there was Maskeen ji explaining in his Katha that Kabir ji said that everyone is into trade even when they marry their daughter or son. But Kabir ji says :
Haun Har Sang Dhada kiyaa...
If its written in our fate that we'll get money and fame, we'll get it anyway even if we keep our Kesh/ Sikhi saroop or don't. Thats how i believe.
But the chances will improve if we follow sikhi path as thats what our guru jis hukam is. Otherwise what we are sowing now would have to be reaped by us in the future.

Har Simrat JUm Kach naa kahey...
Do we actually fear JUM
No. I don't think so... I think we fear our society more. Do you agree?

many parents stop their kids from following the sikhi, and later on the same kids completely ignore their parents in their old age, show disrespect towards their parents. A pyara singh told me a real story sometime back. There was a mother who was manmukh but used to go to gurdwara frequently. She used to take her son with her too. The son started to become religious, bairaagi, kept kesh and wanted to take amrit, But the mother stopped him. She told that if he takes amrit, she will commit suicide. Later on this kid went to college, fell into bad company, cut his kesh, then went to west selling his land, started sleeping around with females, started taking drugs and slowly began to have some mental problems. His mother was really worried and used to tell her son to become religious. One day something happend and in a fit of anger, the son killed his mother and after that killed himself too, uffffff. Its a real story. The punjabi parents these days are so lalchi and do some unforgiveable things. Jatt parents instead of teaching gurmat teach their kids to mock urban sikhs as bhapas, want their kids to marry in caste, want their kids to reach west and earn money, have no problem if their kids cut their hair, such parents then do reap what they sow.

Even my sons teaher who teaches him sikh history told teh class that how his mum used to let him go late night parties but when he asked he wanted to go on a REHANSABAEE, she didn't give permission. The following time he lied and said hes going to a party and may stay at a friends afterwards whereas he stayed awake at Rehansabaee.

He's now chardee kala waala singh, married to amritdhari girl from a very gursikh family. And obviously doing seva to teach kids their sikh history. May waheguru ji bless him with more courage to do this seva.
